Sarah Massey

From a young age I had a creative imagination and would love re-arranging the furniture in my doll’s house. By the time I turned 16, my dad was renovating our family home and I really enjoyed getting involved. He taught me so much about property refurbishment and how to use all sorts of power tools!

This passion for property eventually led me to a decade-long career in estate agency. I would often help clients see the potential in homes they’d have otherwise written off on first sight. I began to realise so many people struggled to envision what could be. At the time, I often watched tv programmes like The House Doctor and Homes Under the Hammer, and it made me start to think.

My dad had recently retired and was refurbishing a property to sell on as a little project. When it was ready to market, I pulled all the furniture and accessories together I could find and carried out my first home staging. The property sold within days, and with my co-founder Jon’s support, House of Arden was born!

I’m so proud of how far we’ve come. Our hard work and determination have seen the company grow from strength to strength, hiring a team of professional stylists and building up a warehouse full of staging stock along the way.

At home, I’m a family-orientated soul who lives with my husband, two teenage daughters and our bichon frise Buddy. I admit that I struggle to sit down, so you’ll always find me with my sleeves rolled up updating, cleaning and maintaining my own home and garden. I love getting away for weekends in my motorhome with friends and family, and when I can, travelling to exotic destinations!
